Keeping Dogs Benifits Health
Keeping a dog can improve both your physical and mental health. Dogs owners have been shown to have reduced stress levels, low blood pressure, and a reduced risk of heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, dog owners have a twenty-four percent reduced risk of mortality. Dogs can also protect us physically by alerting us to dangers by barking or positioning themselves between us and the danger. Homes with dogs in them are a less appealing target for trespassers.
On the mental side, dogs are great at providing their person with emotional support. Dogs can sense when their owners are feeling sad. They have the ability to pick up on subtle changes in body language, voice, and even our scent. These signs allow them to provide comfort for us when we are not feeling well. Dogs have the perfect set of skills to be able to provide us with emotional stability and security.
